Transitioning into civilian life is not the easiest thing to do. I’ve done it and I can tell you, for many, it takes a while. When I see a program like this one, it shows me that someone cares - and someone understands,
The Little Caesars Veterans Program was created to thank veterans for
their service, and provide them with career opportunities when they
transition to civilian life or seek a career change. It offers honorably
discharged, service-disabled veterans such as Slater, who qualify as Little
Caesars franchisees, a benefit of up to $68,000. Honorably discharged,
non-service-disabled veterans who qualify as Little Caesars franchisees are
eligible for a benefit of $10,000.
"With talented veterans such as Michael joining the Little Caesars
team, the Little Caesars Veterans Program continues to grow and provide
veterans with business ownership opportunities," said David Scrivano,
president, Little Caesar Enterprises, Inc. "The skills Michael honed in the
military, such as teamwork, dedication and a familiarity with processes,
will help him become an effective Little Caesars franchisee."
Since launching on Veterans Day 2006, interest has remained high for
the Little Caesars Veterans Program. Currently, 30 veterans have been
approved to become Little Caesars franchisees and more than 2,000 inquiries
have been made about the program. Several more U.S. military veterans are
expected to open stores under the program in the coming months.
We like Little Caesar, but like most folks, we buy pizza from wherever the closest deal is. Not anymore. I will drive the extra five minutes for a Little Caesar Hot and Ready and some Crazy Bread.

Giffords Takes Time Off While Veterans Wait on Funding
Democrats Vote to Allow House to Adjourn Without Passing Necessary Vets Bill
Washington- Rep. Giffords yesterday voted to adjourn the U.S. House of Representatives for a two week Thanksgiving recess, blatantly neglecting to pass a critical housing, health care and benefits bill for our nation’s veterans and troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan (House Roll Call 1113). Every day that the Democrats fail to provide America’s veterans with a much needed funding bill, veterans lose $18.5 million.
This is a repeat offense for Giffords. Just last week, the Democrat-led congress skipped town on Veterans Day weekend, failing to pass the critical funding measure, despite the desperate pleas for passage of a funding bill from key veterans organizations.
“At a time when we should be giving thanks to the men and women who have served our country and protected our freedoms, Giffords continues to obstruct the funding and benefits that our nation’s veterans and troops deserve,” said NRCC Communication Director Jessica Boulanger. “It’s a shame that Giffords continues to put her Washington bosses before the troops and veterans who have devoted their lives to our nation’s freedom and security.”
This holiday season, some 3,000 soldiers will be returning from Iraq who deserve to receive benefits that they have earned. Unfortunately, Congress would rather play political games than provide the needs and services to those who deserve it the most. How many more times will the Democrats vote to stand in the way of the funding our troops and veterans deserve?

I am as outraged by this as a Catholic, as I am as a Veteran.

For some time, I have agreed with others that the Catholic Church in the US is lost in a sea of confusion of its identity.
Thanks to Arizona Political Heat for this post.
St. Thomas the Apostle School in Phoenix has banned students from honoring their relatives and friends in the military. The ban prevents students from dressing up for Halloween events at the school in any costume related to the military. Many parents became appropriately outraged by the disrespect shown to our men and women in uniform. Moreover parents are upset that their children are being used for some left wing political agenda.
